Lisa's review is interesting. Her take on the lodge would be believable except that she follows that up by insulting every other person that wrote a review that disagreed with her!
That speaks volumes about her personality, nature and credibility. I've not stayed at this lodge and have no horse in this race. I was just checking out the reviews and Lisa's review was not helpful to me because she went so far off topic I just don't feel like I can trust her judgement. We can all make up our own minds. This note is mostly for Lisa in case she happens to visit this blog again. Your post would have been more useful to me had you refrained from insulting everybody else.

My family and I went for a week last summer and will never go again. The cabins were outdated very dirty. The beds were very small it said full but two adults could no way fit. The kitchen area was small and everthing in it was either dirty or broken. The blinds were broken and the noise level at night was unbearable. The owners which are also the managers were very rude and not accomadating at all. They need to take a winter and gut the whole place out. For everyone writing good reviews I would hate to see how your house is if you are saying that the Alpine is clean. I would never recomend this to anyone.

We have been patrons of the Alpine Village for 24 wonderful years and have enjoyed each and every stay of those years. Our children, each 22 & 17 now, & guests that they bring with them, look forward to "Kicking Back" & relaxing in the friendly, family orientated atmosphere. We have already booked our holiday for 2011 and will count the months and days before we see our dear host and hostess again.

My family and I were exited about coming to Lake George and enjoying the area in the fall. We visited on Columbus Day weekend 2010 and stayed at the Alpine Village Resort. Although the resort got mixed reviews on line, we took a chance considering that it was located right on the lake, close to the village and the price was somewhat reasonable. Upon our arrival we were asked to pay in full for the cabin which we did and received one key. Upon our entrance to the cabin we noticed a dirty refrigerator, completely rusted through microwave oven, dirty dish-rack, dirty floors, spider webs everywhere, heavy dust on the furniture, bottle caps and cans under the beds and other things that indicated to us that this was a poorly maintained resort. I was there with my husband and two small children and since we already paid, there were not many choices for us left. The cabins are very small, including the beds which are full size and not big enough for two average size adults. The sheets were full of hair from the previous lodgers, the blankets were very old and had holes in them, the bed covers were from the " revolutionary era" , old dusty and probably not washed for 30 years. The window covers were dusty with cobwebs and some had insect cocoons attached. I was quite disappointed from the start. Our cabin was two bedrooms plus a kitchen. There was no sitting area except for the kitchen table and very little furniture other than the beds and few small dressers in the rooms. Although we did not spend any time indoors other than sleeping and eating breakfast, it was very uncomfortable when we did go in for the night. The first night we were there, another party came in to take the cabin that was located upstairs. They were very noisy and appeared to have a party at 3 am with no one to police them. Needless to say, we complained and the party got a bit toned down the next night but that did not stop them. The walls of these cabins although made of logs are paper thin. The BBQ area was old, small and broken down. The breakfast was cheap but horrible tasting, some of the food was even undercooked. The best thing about the resort was the location and we tried to make the best of it. Going down to the lake and enjoying the wild life, water and the views. Taking advantage of all the activities located in the area of the lake.
We learned while there that there was a perfectly nice, modern and clean resort two doors down that we would have been gladly to pay $200 more for the weekend accommodations to enjoy our lodging experience in Lake George. Very disappointing!!!!! We will be back to the area next year same time but not to this resort that clearly needs new management and a much needed face lift.

We love Alpine Village. It's in a great location, has a nice beach and pool and the cabins are so quaint with the real logs and fireplaces. It's very relaxing, family oriented and just enough off the beaten path. My daughter looks forward to coming back every year, because so many families return and she's made friends. So much fun!
