Day-use islands are managed on a reservation basis during the season and cost $12. Booking ahead is worth doing during peak summer months, since availability on popular islands can go quickly.

Boat access is required for any of the day-use islands, since they aren't connected to the mainland by road. If you don't own a boat, you can rent a boat or take a water taxi.

Several parks have both a beach and a picnic area, including Shepard Park, Usher Park, Moreau Lake State Park, Haviland Cove, and Rogers Memorial Park.

There are many parks that have playgrounds, and Usher Park is widely considered the most kid-friendly beach (that also has a playground).

Take a look at parks with grills for picnicking and enjoy.
