Located at the summit of Prospect Mountain, the Prospect Mountain Day Use Area features breathtaking views of the surrounding region and a picnic area with tables, grills, and one pavilion that is available to rent.
About Prospect Mountain
The Prospect Mountain Day Use Area is spacious and accessible to both hikers and those who choose to drive up to the summit along the Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway.
- The Hike - From the Prospect Mountain Trailhead in Lake George Village, take the trail up the mountain for 1.5 miles until you reach the summit.
- The Drive - The 5.5-mile long Veteran's Memorial Highway is open from late May through early November. There is a small fee you must pay to drive up.
Picknicking at the Day Use Area
The Day Use Area is managed by the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation. The cost to park your car is $10 per vehicle for the day.
BBQ grills and picnic tables are available near the summit parking lot, and one pavilion is available for rent at a rate of $75 per day. Call 518-623-1200 for more details.
