Chill Out in Style: Ice Bar Weekend Itinerary in Lake George

January 23 & 24 | January 30 & 31, 2026

Lake George transforms into a frosty paradise come January, and what better way to make the most of winter than by checking out ice bars happening over the last two weekends in January! Then, one ice bar continues through February and winter carnival fun.

The following itinerary can work for either weekend! We recommend planning out a full weekend of fun for both January 23/24 and 30/31, so you have the opportunity to check out more than one ice bar.

Five ice bars are taking place on Friday and Saturday of both weekends

The Lagoon Ice Bar takes place on January 31, and then each Saturday following throughout February, coinciding with the Lake George Winter Carnival.

Note: The Sagamore has added a second day for their ice bar, February 7, and Funky Ice Fest has added an additional Friday and Saturday, February 6 & 7.

With multiple ice bars happening in Lake George on both Friday and Saturday nights, this weekend itinerary helps you mix and match the best events, dining, and downtime.

Friday Evening: Kick Off With an Ice Bar

Ease into the weekend with a classic Lake George ice bar experience on Friday night. Two longtime favorites offer slightly different vibes, but both deliver a festive, winter-ific good time.

The Fire & Ice Bar at Fort William Henry returns to the Lakeside Restaurant & Lounge with stunning ice sculptures, crackling fire pits, live music, and specialty cocktails. Set right on the lake, it’s an excellent way to start an Ice Bar weekend.

Or head to TR’s Ice Bar at the Holiday Inn Resort, which is back after a multi-year hiatus. Expect icy cocktails, cozy winter vibes, and a lively atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the evening.

Saturday Morning: Coffee & a Slow Start

After a fun night out, take Saturday morning at a relaxed pace. Caffe Vero is a great stop for expertly crafted coffee, espresso drinks, and light bites to fuel the day ahead before diving back into winter fun.

Saturday Afternoon: Choose Your Adventure

Saturday afternoon is all about mixing and matching based on your mood:

Get outside with a winter hike at Cat Mountain or The Pinnacle, both offering rewarding views, or venture about 30 minutes away for snowshoeing at Natural Stone Bridge & Caves.

Stay warm indoors with retail therapy at the Lake George Outlets, or test your skills with an axe-throwing session at Adirondack Axe.

Saturday Evening: Dinner & Another Round of Ice Bar Fun

Saturday night brings another chance to experience one of Lake George's most popular winter traditions!

Before you head out, consider fueling up with a hearty dinner, perhaps at The Barnsider, which is open year-round and is close to the ice bars in the Village. Their barbecue fare is the ultimate winter comfort food.

When you're ready, head to the next ice bar.

funky ice fest

Funky Ice Fest at Adirondack Pub & Brewery offers incredible ice sculptures, handcrafted cocktails, and food specials with a lively, exciting atmosphere. This ice bar has a distinct festival feel.

For an upscale experience, head to the Sagamore Resort's Glacier Ice Bar & Lounge, one of the most impressive in the region. While the other ice bars offer free admission, this one has a $55 Saturday ticket (or $35 on Friday, if you'd prefer to go then - or, overnight guests get free admission). It's worth the price!

Guests can enjoy ice luges, interactive ice sculptures, lounge-style seating draped in faux fur blankets, heated private igloos, and more.

If you're at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, you could also check out the ice bar at The Gem, which they're doing a little differently this year: they're bringing the ice experiences, drink specials, and food specials right to the comfort of your own table.

If the whole outdoorsy part of ice bars is a turn off for you, the Gem is the ice bar you'll want to frequent this season!

Bonus Ice Bar: The Lagoon

If you're visiting on Saturday, January 31, or planning a return trip in February, don't miss The Lagoon's Ice Bar, which opens January 31 and continues every Saturday throughout February during the Lake George Winter Carnival. Expect festive vibes with music from a DJ.

Sunday Morning: Brunch & Relaxation
