“As we like to say, ‘It’s always Fort William Henry, it’s always better,'” President of Fort William Henry Hotel Sam Luciano said in a statement regarding some major changes happening now through 2024. Read on to see how the 166+ year-old and counting hotel is shaking things up to align with their true mission.
What’s Being Renovated? Just About Everything
Fort William Henry’s renovations will focus on upgrades to the main hotel, the guest rooms, the lobby, and outdoor spaces. Phase 1, which began in December 2021 and will continue through 2022, includes: overhaul of 36 Annex guest rooms; a new kitchen; and an expanded, outdoor, three-season porch with stunning lake views.
Over the next three years, there will be additional renovations to the conference center, the standard 64 units, and the Grand Hotel. All upgrades are expected to be completed by late 2022/early 2023. The $3.5 million renovations are being led by BBL Construction Services, Design and Supply Interior Designers, and HBT Architects.
“It is important to us that the Fort William Henry Hotel serves the needs of today’s guest, but also that its original charm is felt at every turn,” Luciano emphasized. “We will draw inspiration from [the hotel’s] origins to incorporate into the design of the interior spaces.”
Beyond the improved, ultra-comfortable rooms, guests can look forward to a luxurious, welcoming lobby and an outdoor paradise just steps away, with cozy fire pits and comfortable seating right off the veranda.
Rebranding to Emphasize “The View is Just the Beginning”
FWH’s prior logo depicted a Native American and a soldier, a nod to the Fort William Henry Museum, and to the area’s significant role in the French & Indian War.
“While our original brand has served us well, over the past several years we developed a feeling that we needed a brand that would better communicate what we are all about; better encompass the feeling of Lake George, the Adirondacks, and the role that Fort William Henry plays in this community,” Luciano said in a statement.
Behan Communications worked with FWH to design the new logo with easy-t0-read text and a gorgeous color palette that showcases the view of the lake from the hotel. The new logo invites visitors and locals to come to FWH to relax and enjoy the calm waters of the lake, and to take in the sights of surrounding Adirondack mountains.
The renovations and rebranding come together to align with FWH’s vision to pay homage to the past, offer modern luxuries and conveniences to guests, and to provide a direct connection to Lake George, the Adirondacks, and the great outdoors.

The Hotel is Open Now & Welcoming Winter Visitors
More good news for guests: The guest room renovations are being phased in such a way that there will be limited impact on the guests’ stay. Current room renovations are expected to be completed by February 4, 2022.
Moreover, the hotel is gearing up for all the winter festivities coming up in the Village and surrounding area, including Winterfest (wristbands on sale now), Ice Castles (tickets expected to go on sale within the upcoming weeks), and the Winter Carnival, which takes place each weekend in February.
Not to mention, there will be fireworks each Saturday during the Winter Carnival, and FWH is in a prime fireworks viewing spot. (No Village traffic! You won’t need to find parking!).
In other words, rooms are getting booked up fast, so plan your winter stay at Fort William Henry, and get a taste of the exciting upgrades in-progress and coming down the line at the historic hotel.
