Lake George Ranked One of the Hottest Housing Markets in the Country

By Erin Nudi

We've heard the story before - "I vacationed in Lake George as a child, and ended up moving here." If you've ever thought about making the big move to the Queen of American Lakes (or purchasing a second home), you're not alone - WGNA recently reported that Lake George is one of the hottest housing markets in the entire country.

Specifically, our lakeside village and town ranked #7 among the hottest housing markets in the US for the 3rd quarter of 2026. This distinction makes Lake George comparable to places to like Palm Beach, Florida.

The ranking focuses on where overall real estate momentum is surging - where buying demand is intensifying, where sales prices are climbing, and where homes are moving off the market quickly.

There was undoubtedly a surge of incoming residents to Lake George and the Adirondacks during and after COVID. But much of the recent momentum is driven by buyers seeking second homes, vacation retreats, and family legacy properties. And, many of these transactions are closing in cash.

While the post-COVID rush saw buyers from places like New York City and New Jersey, this time around Lake George is drawing interested parties from beyond the Northeast, including Texas and California.

A shoutout to nearby Queensbury, which came in on the national index at #55.
