Basecamp Brings Four Adirondack Brands and a Side of Bigfoot to Bolton Landing
A new storefront is opening in the heart of Bolton Landing, and it's bringing more than merchandise to Lake Shore Drive. Basecamp, founded by John Lasalandra and Joe Russell, fills a previously vacant space with a retail concept built around community, conservation, and a large mythical resident.

Grand Opening Details
Basecamp holds its grand opening on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 10 a.m. The shop sits in downtown Bolton Landing at 4950 Lake Shore Drive, giving locals and visitors a new stop for gifts, apparel, and Lake George-inspired goods within walking distance of the lake.
Four Brands Under One Roof
Basecamp houses four distinct Adirondack-inspired labels in a single space. Basecamp itself centers on outdoor life and slowing down, while RELAX focuses on rest and taking time. Bolton Bigfoot leans into Adirondack folklore, and Greetings from Lake George celebrates the people and places tied to the lake.
This unique combination gives shoppers a wider range of goods than a typical single-brand store, from apparel to home fragrance to locally themed gifts.
Shopping That Supports Conservation

A portion of Basecamp's business model is tied to giving back. Select green products generate a $1 donation with each sale, with proceeds benefiting local conservation and nonprofit organizations working to protect Lake George and the Adirondacks.
The store also offers a fragrance collection inspired by specific places around the lake, translating spots like pine-covered islands and cedar docks into candles, diffusers, and home scents.
Postcards, Kindness Notes, and a Traveling Bigfoot
Guests can pick up a free Greetings from Lake George postcard, write a note, and mail it directly from the store with postage included. Handwritten messages of encouragement are also tucked throughout the shop and worked into some merchandise.
Basecamp plans to launch Calling All Artists next month, inviting local artists to create their own take on the Bolton Bigfoot for display around town, with the finished pieces later auctioned for local nonprofits. The store's resident Bigfoot will also be available to book for community events and fundraisers through the Bolton Bigfoot Experience.
Why It Matters for Bolton Landing
Basecamp turns an empty storefront into an active stop for shoppers looking for Adirondack-themed gifts with a local angle. The combination of retail, conservation giving, and community projects like Calling All Artists adds a new layer of engagement to downtown Bolton Landing. Be sure to stop by during your next visit!
