Sunny days and warm summer weather had many of us anxiously awaiting news on when the Lake George Region’s state campgrounds and day use areas would reopen. The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) just announced that two popular campgrounds, Hearthstone Point Campground and Rogers Rock Campground, will open on Wednesday, July 1. Here’s what you need to know about new and existing reservations.

July 1st DEC Campground Openings & Reservations
Earlier this week, the DEC announced that the Lake George Islands Campgrounds and several other Adirondack campgrounds will open on June 19.
In a second announcement, the DEC released the rest of their campground reopening plan, which includes opening Hearthstone Point Campground & Day Use Area and Rogers Rock Campground & Day Use Area on July 1.
Existing reservations will be honored for these campgrounds.
As of 8:00AM on Thursday, June 18, the DEC is not accepting new reservations for the 2020 camping season or walk-in camping yet. When they do start accepting new reservations, you will be able to reserve campsites through ReserveAmerica. We will update this article with the exact date once we have it.
The two campgrounds are located on the western Lake George shoreline. Hearthstone Point Campground is in northern Lake George, and it features 250 tent and trailer sites. Rogers Rock Campground can be found farther north in Hague, and it features 332 campsites.
The DEC has stated they will provide further updates about their campgrounds as reopening planning and preparation continues.
