Hop-On Hotspots: Top Places to Visit Along the Lake George Trolley Route
Whether you’re a local or visiting, catching a ride on the CDTA’s seasonal trolley is one of the easiest, most affordable ways to explore the region. See attractions and things to do along the Lake George trolley route below!
Note, there are two main routes for the trolley: Glens Falls/Lake George, and Lake George/Bolton Landing.
Route 1: Glens Falls to Lake George (CDTA Route 876)
Downtown Glens Falls (Ridge Street Terminal)
Explore dining, shopping, a huge library, and City Park in downtown Glens Falls. Grab coffee at SPoT Coffee, pick up a souvenir or gag gift at Rude Betty’s, and stop by R&R Dispensary for all your cannabis needs.
Restaurants along this stretch include Davidson Brothers for brewpub vibes, Mikado for hibachi, Raul’s for Mexican, and there’s more!
Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor
Hop off right at the entrance to the region’s most famous amusement park! If you don’t have a season pass parking is pricey, so this is a huge perk. Look forward to roller coasters, a water park, live entertainment, and more theme park fun at Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor.
The Outlets
You can’t visit Lake George without hitting up the Outlets, which are actually four shopping centers in one. The trolley stop is near Starbucks. You’ll be able to walk to the Coach Factory Store, Michael Kors Outlet, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Vera Bradley Outlet, and more.
Beach Road & Million Dollar Beach
For sand, sun, and lake views hit up Beach Road and Million Dollar Beach. This is where you can lounge by the water or in Shepard Park, grab an ice cream cone at The Candy Apple or The Pink Roof, and you’ll have easy access to more restaurants and shops along Canada Street (the main strip).
Route 2: Lake George to Bolton Landing (CDTA Route 877)
Lake George Village
Of course the trolley stops in Lake George Village, giving you access to the aforementioned Beach Road and Million Dollar Beach.
In addition, you can explore Shepard Park, Canada Street, Lake George Battlefield State Park, and the Lake George Steamboat Company. If you have kids, bring them to Pappy's Play Area at Charles R. Wood Park.
Diamond Point & Hearthstone
The trolley heads north to Diamond Point and Hearthstone Point Campground, which features tent and trailer sites, plus a beach.
Downtown Bolton Landing
Parking can be tricky in Bolton Landing, especially if beach parking is filled up, so taking the trolley to explore is a great idea.
Enjoy Rogers Memorial Park Beach, Veterans Memorial Park, The Sembrich, cute shops like Happy Jacks and the Indian Tepee Gift Shop, plus the Bolton Museum and restaurants.
More to Know About the Trolley Stops
*The trolley is $1.50 per ride (kids 5 and under are free), and it runs every 20 to 30 minutes in the summer, typically from 8am to 11pm.
*The trolley doesn't just stop at the aforementioned hotspots, but has several smaller stops in between. Pull the stop cord or press the stop button to request your stop before reaching your destination.
*The trolley isn't just for sightseeing, but can be used for point-to-point transportation.
