Opening ceremonies for the Lake George Winter Carnival takes place in Shepards Park at noon. The weather forecast calls for partly sunny with a high of 33 and a low of 13. Warm up at the bonfire before or after dinner while you’re watching the fireworks over the lake. Fireworks begin at 6:30!
A bit of weather trivia for Lake George Winters that I have learned – the Lake has failed to freeze over 9 times since 1990. Lake George is considered to be frozen when you can travel the entire lake continuously on ice. If this winter continues this way, it looks like this will be the 10th time. From 1908 to 1990, the Lake failed to completely freeze just 3 times. Winters are a changin!
A look at the extended forecast – about 4 inches of snow is expected to fall on February 15th – just in time for the President’s Day Holiday Weekend – YAY!
