Guided Deer and Small Game Hunting in the Adirondacks
The Adirondack Park covers about 6 million acres in northern New York State. Many wildlife species live in the park, and several can be hunted throughout the year.
Whitetail deer are a major draw for hunters. Although the park does not have a high deer population, it produces mature trophy bucks year after year. Deer season starts at the end of September and typically runs through the second week of December. November is usually the most productive month for harvesting a mature whitetail.
Hunters can choose their trip style:
- Day Trips: Hunt during the day and stay at a local bed and breakfast or hotel.
- Backcountry Trips: Pack into the backcountry for an extended stay at a tent camp.
Custom adventures can also be arranged.
Guided small game hunting is also available, with snowshoe hare, grouse, woodcock, and varmints found throughout the park. Hare hunting is a popular choice among clients. All hare hunts are conducted with personally trained beagles, which are tracked using electronic equipment.
- Hare Hunting: Mid-December through mid-March
- Varmint Hunting: December through the end of March
After a successful hunt, hunters can contact Frasier Taxidermy for taxidermy services.
