Retro Date Night Ideas in Lake George for the Vintage Inspired Couple

By Erin Nudi

Step away from the screens and tap into nostalgia on your next date night! Find retro date night ideas in Lake George for a timeless night out together.

Set Sail in an Old Fashioned, Wooden Boat

Miss Boathouse is a stunning 33-foot mahogany motorboat owned by the lovely couple at The Boathouse Waterfront Lodging. They offer private tours for guests and non-guests alike in this old fashioned wooden vessel.

Catch a Double Feature

The Glen Drive-In is arguably the best place for an authentic, old-timey date night near Lake George! This beloved local staple has been showing films since 1958. Don't forget to hit up the snack bar.

Rollerskate Under the Lights

Bring your rollerblades or skates out of the closet and head to The Fun Spot! They also offer rentals. This throwback date night destination is great for holding hands and skating around the rink together - as long as you don't mind kids and families around.

Bonus tip: They offer country line dancing lessons every Wednesday at 6:30pm, for another great classic date night idea for Lake George.

Go Bowling & Hit Up a Retro Diner

Nothing exudes classic date night in Lake George like a bowling lane, and Lake George Lanes & Games is the place to go. Enjoy a classic game of bowling and then grab a drink at their bar.

50s-themed diner

They happen to be right next door to the Prospect Mountain Diner, with retro, 50s decor and delicious breakfast served until 2pm or 3pm, depending on the day.

Sip a Root Beer Float or Share a Scoop

A vintage date night in Lake George requires a vintage treat. While there are loads of great ice cream spots in the region, for old timey feels we suggest A&W Restaurant for their classic root beer floats, or Mr. Bill's Car Hop in nearby South Glens Falls, for that drive-up experience and classic decor.

Both offer "real" food like burgers as well as ice cream, for an inexpensive yet quintessential dinner date with dessert.

Try Your Hand at Skee-Ball & Arcade Games

Spark up some friendly competition along with romantic vibes at one of the arcades in the area - skee-ball is a classic, but you can choose from many vintage and modern games!

The aforementioned Fun Spot and Lanes & Games each have an arcade, you can choose between Playland Arcade or Fun World Arcade in the Village, and then there's also At the Pier Arcade and the Wow Family Entertainment Center at Aviation Mall.

Play a Round of Historic Golf

Lake George is famous for its mini golf courses, and you can get in on this nostalgic good time with Around the World Golf in the Village (one of the oldest mini golf courses in the country), or enjoy the kitschy side of Lake George at Goony Golf, just outside the Village. The Fun Spot also has mini golf!

Take a Whimsical Walk by the Water

It doesn't get more classic (or inexpensive - bonus!) than simply walking hand-in-hand by Lake George, perhaps after a round at Around the World Golf or with an ice cream cone from The Pink Roof.

Consider staying at The Boathouse for the ultimate couples getaway >>
