Thurman Fall Farm Tour
On Saturday, October 6, spend your day at the Thurman Fall Farm Tour, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Just 20 minutes from Lake George Village. Go early for a farm-to-fork breakfast, starting at 9 a.m. and savor a barn loft lunch treat, noon to 2 p.m. Download a map and directory from our website or pick up one at any of the Thurman sites during the event. You can self-guide to nine unique sites for free open houses and a quilt show, an artisan market, farms and sugarhouses for talks, tours, tasting, demos, punkin chunkin', wagon rides, and "ag-citement" for all ages, along with shopping for artisan wares, maple products and all-natural and organic veggies, pork, poultry and eggs.
Pack up the kids and head out for Thurman, just 20 minutes from Lake George Village. This annual event showcases working farms, some dating back 200 years, with vintage farm implements, and some newer operations that boast modern structures with shiny stainless steel hi-tech equipment. Find and print your directory online, or pick up one in town to self-guide to nine unique sites for free open houses with ag-citing activities for all ages. Have your directory punched at each farm, for a chance to win 1 of two baskets full of Thurman goodies.
Start your tour early for a farm-to-fork breakfast sandwich, starting at 9 a.m then from noon to 2, savor a barn-loft country lunch. Shop for all natural cheese products, jams, jellies, veggies and meats and artisans’ wares. See the punkin-chunkin’ trebuchet, take wagon rides, taste maple, cheese and menu items. Explore a goat and sheep dairy farm; enjoy kids’ activity; see a Dutch timber frame barn being built; see a demo about turning flax to linen; learn about sugaring, mushrooms, medicinal plants, bee keeping and enjoy country friendliness at its best.

Want to kick off your Thurman Farm fun early? Stop over at Nettle Meadow Farm on Friday night, October 8th and kick off your Thurman farm Fun early. Nettle Meadow will host their last cheese jam of 2021, featuring "Stretchin' the Truth", a four-piece blues band from the Saratoga Region. Local beer from Common Roots and Wine from Adirondack Winery will be offered to accompany Nettle Meadow Cheese Plates. Doors open at 6 p.m. $5.00 per person.
