Opening Weekend at Six Flags Great Escape

Six Flags Great Escape, the thrill capital of upstate New York, will launch the 2024 season on Saturday, May 18!

This marks the official start of summer in the Lake George region, and the 70th season at Six Flags Great Escape will be one to remember. Showcasing resort improvements and new additions as a result of the largest investment in over two decades, the park continues to focus on enhancing the overall guest experience.

Note: Hurricane Harbor opens Saturday, May 25.

Six Flags Great Escape Resort 2024 enhancements include:

• The Bobcat: The exciting ride addition opening in summer of 2024 marks the first new wooden coaster introduced to New York state since 1999 and the first new coaster to be constructed at Six Flags Great Escape since 2003. A first-of-its-kind for Six Flags, the family coaster boasts modernized trains and a newly-patented track for smooth navigation of the rides’ exciting turns and drops. The Bobcat promises to be a favorite for both budding and seasoned coaster enthusiasts.
• Adirondack Mercantile: Opening alongside The Bobcat coaster, Adirondack Mercantile is an all-new retail location offering Adirondack themed souvenirs, snacks and drinks.
• Swan Boats: After an extensive project including preservation of the historic River Dee, ride refurbishment, and a new dock installation, the original and beloved Swan Boats return to The Great Escape Memorial Day Weekend.
• Bierhaus: Renamed in 2023, the former Show Grill will feature upgrades in 2024 with the addition of cocktails, expanded draft beer offerings, and an extended walk-up service counter for guests.
• Speedy Parking: Guests can speed through parking and get to the fun. Pre-purchase or use Pass Holder parking benefits in designated lanes to get into the park faster using automated Speedy Parking toll plazas.
• Point-of-Sale: A revamped Point-of-Sale ecosystem for improved efficiency includes 118 new installations across the Six Flags Great Escape Resort properties.
• Events: An exciting lineup of special events during the 2024 season allows guests endless opportunities for fun all season long.
• 70th Anniversary Celebration: June 27 through July 7, Six Flags Great Escape celebrates 70 years of theme park memories.  
• Oktoberfest: Select days in September, visitors can explore German-inspired cuisines, brews, and desserts.
• Boo Fest: Select days in October, featuring family friendly trick-or-treating, unique fall festivities, fun character photo opportunities, and delicious treats.
• Fright Fest: Select days in October, guests will experience thrills by day and the scariest frights by night.
• Hurricane Grill & Wings: Opening summer 2024 is a new flagship dining option at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Water Park. Known for its jumbo, fresh wings, featuring more than 35 signature sauces and rubs. In addition to award-winning wing options, the menu boasts a wide variety of delicious offerings.

The theme park will be open weekends and select dates beginning May 18, with daily operations beginning June 19!
