Hometown Holidays Celebration in Glens Falls, NY
Hometown Holidays 2020
In a typical year the Glens Falls Hometown Holidays consists of a ceremonial tree lighting, a visit from Santa, a film showing at the Charles R. Wood Theatre, and more. For 2020, the Glens Falls Collaborative is conducting a Holiday House Contest and encouraging local businesses to join in the fun by having their business open with a little something special for the community and visitors.
Holiday House Contest
There are three categories for the Holiday House Contest: Houses, Apartments, and Business Storefronts. The competition is limited to properties in Glens Falls and those in Queensbury, but in the Glens Falls City School District. The Collaborative asks that the displays be "PG-13" and suitable for most audiences.
Registration will be open from November 20 to December 1. Prizes include gift certificates to a Glens Falls Collaborative member of the winner's choice!
Santa Claus Comes to Town
Santa Claus will parade around town with a fire truck on Friday, December 4, starting at 6pm. He and his elf will travel on a flatbed truck donated by Falls Farm and Garden and will be accompanied by DeeJay Mike DuBray who will be playing holiday music. You can find a map showing the parade route on the Glens Falls Collaborative's website and social media channels.
Children are encouraged to come outside and wave to Santa! (Please wear a mask and social distance/do not congregate.)
Holiday House Scavenger Hunt
A Holiday House Scavenger Hunt will be posted to the Glens Falls Collaborative's webstie as well that will incorporate features found on registered Holiday Houses.
Note: Other than Santa's parade route photos from past years and do not reflect COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.
