Prospect Mountain In Lake George New York

Below is a transcript of the video above:

Prospect Mountain is one of the more quaint, scenic, but less crowded attractions in Lake George.

You have the choice to hike Prospect, or ascend it by car...or both, something you won't find elsewhere in the Adirondacks.

Once you've reached top, take your time and enjoy the spectacular 100-mile view!

The hike starts at the end of Montcalm Street. It is a 3 mile round trip hike, that at times can be very steep, and may not be suitable for younger children. The hiking trail is part of the old Cog railway that used to take visitors to the hotel at the top of Prospect.

If you prefer, for only a small per-car fee, you can drive up the Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway. As you climb, you will come across three different viewing areas, each one offering its own outstanding views.

Once you arrive to the top parking area, you can take the trolley to the summit, or, try the short, but challenging hike. Observe the railway's historic remains, the Adirondack Mountains of New York, and the Green Mountains of Vermont. The top of Prospect Mountain is one of the absolute best views of Lake George that you'll find.

Prospect Mountain is great for family picnics and an enjoyable experience to people of all ages.

As you might imagine, the view in autumn as the leaves and mountains are bursting with color is absolutely breathtaking.
