Fire At Capri Village Resort

Editor's Note (12/29/2021): Capri Village was sold in November 2021 and is expected to be redeveloped into something new. We are keeping this article for archival purposes.

LAKE GEORGE NY -- Independence Day fireworks weren't the only blazes in the sky on the fourth - Saturday evening also saw an unfortunate fire at Capri Village Resort, a popular lodging venue on Lake George located at 3926 Lake Shore Drive in Diamond Point.

The cause of the fire at Capri Village, which burned a part of the resort, is still under investigation. The impacted area did not affect the overall hotel, and the venue was able to resume regular business.

No one was hurt in the fire, and all guests affected were moved to other open rooms. Linda Famosi, the owner of Capri Village, remarked that while a few shaken guests did leave, most stayed.

"I'm looking at people in our swimming pool now," Famosi said.

The destruction of The Villa, a waterfront structure and part of Capri Village, was indeed a great loss, but fortunately Capri Village can continue serving its guests. The resort is still running, with 64 of its original 75 rooms open and several still occupied.
