Drink Up at These Top 4 Wine Bars In & Near Lake George, NY

By Joe Legault

If you’re into wine and you’re in the Lake George area, these are the places to know. The wine bars in and near Lake George, NY aren’t just good — they’re the ones locals talk about, visitors come back to, and regulars stick with.

Some are laid-back and low-key. Others are built for longer stays with full menus and extended tastings. Each one brings something different to the table, but they all have this in common: you’re going to find something worth pouring a second glass of.

Adirondack Winery & Extreme Heights Cidery – Lake George & Queensbury

Both locations of Adirondack Winery & Extreme Heights Cidery have something different to offer. The Lake George tasting room sits in the heart of the village, just steps from Canada Street. It’s a convenient stop during a day of exploring and tends to have a good energy, especially during the warmer months.

The Queensbury tasting room, about 12 minutes south, is larger and built for longer visits. Guests can sit down, order food from The Restobar, and spend more time with a full wine or cider flight. The menu includes flatbreads, sandwiches, charcuterie boards, soups, and more, making it easy to settle in and take your time.

I’m a fan of their fruit-infused wines. Mellow Blush, the watermelon-infused rosé, stands out as a fun summer option. It’s light, a little playful, and perfect for a sunny day. Around the holidays, Red Carriage is my pick, as the cranberry gives it a nice tart edge that balances the sweetness.

They also offer a wide range of dry reds, crisp whites, and sparkling wines, plus hard cider from the Extreme Heights label, so you're sure to find something that fits your taste.

Ledge Rock Hill Winery – Lake George

Just five minutes from the Lake George strip, Ledge Rock Hill Winery is one of my go-to spots when I want something mellow. The tasting room is small and personal, and you can look forward to good conversations with the staff while sampling wines.

I tend to lean sweet, and Sacandaga Sunset — a red with bold blackberry notes — hits just right. Green Apple Blanc is another one I really enjoy. It’s tart and crisp with a clean finish, and honestly works in any season.

For those who prefer dry wines, their rotating selection includes solid reds and whites that round out the tasting menu nicely.

Guests can order a five-sample tasting, wine by the glass, or a wine slushie. Ledge Rock Hill Winery also partners with local restaurants like Feng Bistro and Giuseppe’s Pizzeria, offering delivery right to the tasting room. It’s a flexible setup that makes the experience feel casual and easygoing.

Rockwell Falls Inn & Wine Bar – Lake Luzerne

Just 15 minutes from Lake George, the Rockwell Falls Inn & Wine Bar is a small, intimate wine bar. It is housed inside a charming Victorian home built in 1890. The whole space has a simple, natural character that shows it has been truly well-loved by its regulars.

The parlor is where guests tend to gather. You’ll find books, a fireplace, and a few worn in chairs that invite you to stay longer than you planned. The wraparound porch is another draw, a good spot for a glass of wine and casual conversation, especially in the late afternoon.

The wine bar carries bottles and pours from all over, available by the glass or to take home. A guest once wrote, "The Inn was beautiful and exactly what we needed for a long weekend away. We enjoyed listening to live music in the evening while sipping wine at the elegant wine bar. Everyone was so welcoming and inviting. We will definitely visit again."

That kind of feedback comes up a lot when people talk about this place.

The Wine Bar – Saratoga Springs

Roughly 28 minutes south of Lake George, The Wine Bar in downtown Saratoga Springs is polished, but not in a way that feels stiff. It’s a long-time fixture on Broadway, and the kind of spot where people know what to expect: sharp service, well balanced pours, and a setting that’s grown into itself over the years.

They offer 50 wines by the glass, with options for tastings or full bottles. Reds, whites, rosés, sparkling, it’s all covered, and the staff is quick to help if you’re not sure what to try. There’s also a full cocktail bar and a cigar lounge for something a little different.

The food goes beyond what you'd expect from a wine bar. Small plates include lamb lollipops and wild mushroom bruschetta, while the entrée menu rotates with dishes like swordfish and house-made bolognese.

One guest put it well: "The Wine Bar never disappoints. The service is exceptional, the food is on point, and the mixologist can make you any concoction you like."

If you’re already planning a night in Saratoga, this is a place worth working into the schedule.

Final Wine Bar Thoughts

There’s no one way to enjoy wine around Lake George. Some spots are quick and casual. Others invite you to stay a little longer.

What they all have in common is that they’re easy to enjoy. No pressure to be an expert, no need to dress up. Just good wine, local flavor, and a setting that fits your pace. Try one, see how it feels, then keep going from there.
