People around Lake George know that Rachael Ray is a homegrown celebrity! She grew up in Lake Luzerne, a short drive from the village of Lake George and her home is still there!
When asked about her favorite things to do around the Lake George region, Rachael listed her favorite things: Bolton Landing, Restaurants (Including Ridge Terrace and The Algonquin), Chic’s Marina, Sutton’s Marketplace, and Pirate’s Cove Mini golf!
Bolton Landing
The scenic village Bolton Landing is just a few miles up the road from Lake George. The beautiful lake views, quaint shopping areas and delish restaurants make it a fun trip up from Lake George. It’s accessible by boat as well, so it’s easy to visit!
The Restaurants
There are so many great restaurants in this area, but Rachael calls out two special ones: Ridge Terrace, and The Algonquin.
Ridge Terrace is off of the beaten path and located on Ridge Road in Queensbury. This restaurant specializes in chargrilled steaks, expertly sautéed veal, fresh seafood selections and many innovative pasta dishes. This is a restaurant where whatever you try, you will go home happy!
If you are spending the day in Bolton Landing, try The Algonquin for lunch or dinner! Enjoy the gorgeous views of the lake from the deck while you sip a glass of wine or enjoy dinner. An added bonus is this restaurant is accessible by boat as well as by car so stop by during a day on the lake!
Chic’s Marina
If you don’t have a boat to take to The Algonquin, rent one at Chic’s Marina! It’s located in Bolton Landing and the staff at Chic’s will help you through the easy process of renting a boat and getting out on the water. Chic’s had the largest rental fleet on the lake, and there are also waverunners and pontoon boats available.
Sutton’s Marketplace
Sutton’s Market Place is another great place to visit, especially for those of us whose favorite activity is shopping. Sutton’s offers unique gifts, Adirondack inspired furniture, clothing, jewelry and an attached bakery and café that make this shop a must see. Bonus shopping tip: it’s close to the French Mountain Common Outlets!
Pirate’s Cove
After a day of fun in Lake George, mini golf makes a perfect evening activity! Check out the lighted Pirates Cove course, which is based on the story of Blackbeard; each hole is pirate themed and has some history on the infamous Blackbeard. The course is good for all ages and but still offers a challenge to the more seasoned golfer (mini golfer or otherwise)!
