Last week, Tom Balon and his girlfriend Katie came over from Gloucester Mass to try some freshwater fishing. Tom is very familiar with the Adirondacks and trout fishing, but Katie was new to the ‘Dacks and trout fishing. The morning proved to be perfect- gorgeous sunrise, flat water and plenty of hungry trout, big trout. Katie kept talking about how gorgeous the lake was and Tom kept saying how the fishing was exceeding his expectations.
By 10 a.m. Katie and Tom had boated a dozen good lakers and Katie said she was pretty tired. I knew Katie wanted to see some more of the lake, so I volunteered a short sightseeing cruise. On our way back Katie thanked me for a day she said she would always remember. I couldn’t have felt better. Katie asked me if I ever see bald eagles on the lake. I told her I see a few each year. She said she had been waiting her whole life to see one in the wild. I was telling Katie about all the eagles I saw in Minnesota this past fall when I looked off the stern of the boat and what do you know, “Look Katie!” I yelled, “it’s a bald eagle!” Just one of those days. Give us a call you might just have one of those days.
