Are you ready to have fun outdoors this summer? It’s about to get a whole lot easier at the Lake George Islands! The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) recently announced that they will be transitioning to automated, online sales of all day-use permits at the Lake George Islands facilities. This change will make booking permits a faster and easier process for visitors, meaning you can spend more time exploring beautiful Lake George instead of filling out paperwork. You can even book a dock while on the water!
Reservations Are Made Easy Thanks to This New Process
With just a few clicks, visitors can quickly and easily obtain a day-use permit for the islands by either visiting the ReserveAmerica website, downloading the ReserveAmerica app, or calling the Call Center at 1.800.456.2267. Day-use permits are $12 and can be booked as early as 7 days in advance; same-day permits are available as well, so if you’re a last-minute planner, you may still have a shot at an open spot.
Picnicking on the islands is a visitor favorite! Patrons can choose between 116 day-use sites over the 8 islands, and 2 mainland areas. The islands’ picnicking sites are equipped with charcoal grills, fireplaces, and tables to make your al fresco dining experience complete.
After switching over to this new process on May 12, patrons will not be able to purchase day-use permits at any of the Lake George Islands campgrounds, they will only be available online, through the app, or by phone. Keep in mind, this change does not apply to booking overnight campsites at the Lake George Islands, nor does it apply to any other DEC campgrounds or day-use areas. It only applies to Lake George Islands day-use permits.
