Exciting details have emerged for the upcoming, brand new Lake George Area Winterfest, set to take place every weekend (Thursdays – Sundays) in February. What does a wristband get you? How do you sign up for activities? Get answers to your questions below.
It’s All About Those Classic Winter Activities
Socially-distant outdoor activities are planned for all four weekends and include the following: horse-drawn carriage rides, strategically placed hot cocoa stations, cross-country skiing with two location options, axe throwing with Adirondack Axe, snowmobile tours with C+C Snowmobile Tours, dog sled rides with Thunder Mountain Dog Sleds, and fat tire biking at Garnet Hill Lodge. You pick the activity you want when you purchase your wristband (more on that below).
“Winterfest is the new way to get outside and really enjoy the wide variety of family-oriented, socially-distanced recreational opportunities in the Lake George region of the Adirondacks,” event organizer Christian Dutcher said in a statement.
Events Open to the Public
In addition to the above, there will also be public ice skating at the rink adjacent to Shepard Park Beach in Lake George, guided hikes, ice sculptures on display at area locations including The Hyde and Fort William Henry, and snowshoeing at Up Yonda Farm as well as Natural Stone Bridge and Caves. Wow!
Note, as the health and safety of guests and the community is paramount, the Winterfest schedule is subject to change: “We are keeping a watchful eye on public safety and are poised to respond and change events should the need arise,” Dutcher said.
Make Sure to Visit Local Restaurants (And Make a Night of It!)
As the entire Lake George community comes together to make this event happen, hotels are open and ready for visitors and restaurants are putting together drink specials and fabulous food. “Local beers will be on tap, local bourbons poured,” as Dutcher put it.
As for Winterfest lodging deals, you can get a percentage off your stay at participating hotels just by purchasing a wristband.
The Wristband: It’s Your Ticket to Winterfest Fun
Wristbands cost $30 and include your choice of adventure plus access to horse-drawn carriage rides around Lake George, hot cocoa stations, 15% off your hotel stay, and 10% off at many participating restaurants (most of which offer takeout/delivery options). Kids wristbands are $15. You can purchase your wristband now at the official event website.
