For the past 59 years, the Lake George Winter Carnival in Lake George Village has become an annual tradition for families and visitors from near and far. Unfortunately, after much consideration, the event organizers have decided to cancel the 2021 Lake George Winter Carnival.

Winter Carnival Organizers Make a Tough Decision
In a press release on Tuesday afternoon (December 1), Louis Tokos and Nancy Nichols, co-chairs of the Lake George Winter Carnival, announced the popular event’s cancellation.
“We have struggled with our decision of canceling the Lake George Winter Carnival for the 2021 season,” they said. “Our concern is for our Winter Carnival volunteer members and visitors who attend this large event to be safe.”
The Lake George Winter Carnival is the latest addition to a long list of events that have been postponed or canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Event organizers are already looking ahead to the next Lake George Winter Carnival, though, which will be held on weekends in February 2022.
“Each year the Lake George Winter Carnival provides our region with a much needed economic boost and provides a variety of events that lifts the spirit of thousands during our long winter, said Village of Lake George Mayor Blais in the press release. “We know and respect the many volunteers and understand and appreciate their decision.”
Although the 2021 Lake George Winter Carnival is canceled, there are still plenty of reasons to visit the Lake George Region this upcoming season. From downhill skiing at Adirondack ski resorts to guided winter hikes and snowshoe adventures, there is no shortage of winter activities you and your family can enjoy.
