Editor’s Note (6/18/2020 3:55PM): Previously, this article mentioned that Million Dollar Beach would be open daily starting Friday, June 19. However, according to the latest update from the DEC, the beach will be open daily starting Saturday, June 20. The article has been updated to reflect the new information.
Since opening for the season on May 23, Million Dollar Beach has remained open, but only on weekends. Weekday beachgoers will be excited to learn, though, that the DEC will be opening Million Dollar Beach on a daily basis starting this Saturday, June 20.
Beginning on June 20, Million Dollar Beach will be open seven days a week, 10:00am – 6:00pm. Use of the beach is free, but on-site parking costs $10/car, $5/motorcycle, and $50/bus. In addition, Empire Pass holders can park for free, and under the Golden Park Program, NY State residents 62 and older can park for free on weekdays with a valid ID.
The boat launch adjacent to the beach area is also open and there are designated parking spaces for the launch. Due to the popularity of the spot, these spaces fill up quickly.
To prevent another wave of COVID-19, beach capacity will remain capped at 500 people and parking will continue to be restricted to 150 cars as well. Swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are on duty.
