Veterans Day is always a busy time in the Lake George Region. From local ceremonies to special events, festivals, and more, there are tons of ways you can make the most of this weekend. We’ve highlighted some of the region’s best events and activities you should add to your to-do list.
Attend Lake George Area Veterans Day Events
Plan a visit to the Fort William Henry Museum this weekend and check out the 5th Annual Field of Flags. Over 6,000 flags are in place on the museum lawn to honor veterans and active duty military personnel. On Sunday, November 11, join the fort for a musket salute at 11:00am. Refreshments will follow.
In recognition of Veterans Day, the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation will offer free access to Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Parkway on Sunday. Visitors are welcome to drive up and enjoy the view from the summit. After Sunday, the parkway will close for the season.
Bring the family to Glens Falls High School on Sunday for the annual Lake George Community Band Veterans Day Concert. The concert is a musical tribute to all veterans of the United States Armed Forces, and admission is $10 for adults and free for students, children, veterans, and active duty members.
Lake George Lanes & Games will offer a variety of Veterans Day specials this weekend! Enjoy discounts during the weekend as well as free bowling until 6:00pm for active and non-active military members on Monday.
Have Fun at Festivals & Fundraisers
Ready to start your holiday shopping early this year? Head over to Queensbury United Methodist Church for their two-day Spirit of Christmas Holiday Festival! Support local artists and artisans by purchasing handmade items. Food will be available at their Christmas Cafe.
It’s time to prepare for the upcoming ski season in the Lake George Region! If you’re looking for new or used gear, then don’t miss the annual Skip Swap Fundraiser at West Mountain in Queensbury. The sale will be held on Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm in the Main Lodge.
See the Hometown Team in Action
Get your tickets to the Adirondack Thunder’s home game against the Reading Royals on Friday at 7:00pm. The hockey game will take place in Glens Falls at Cool Insuring Arena.
Learn About the Arts in Lake George
On Saturday, the Lake George Arts Project’s Board of Directors will host an Open House Reception at the Courthouse Gallery at 3:30pm. Admission is free, and hors d’oeuvres, sweets, and a variety of beverages will be served.
