Some Other Great Beaches To Explore In & Near Lake George

Editors Note – 8/20: Million Dollar Beach is open after less than 24 hours closed. This article has been updated to reflect that information.

If you have heard that Million Dollar Beach is currently closed, you may be wondering about additional swimming and sunbathing options. First, here is what happened.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) closed Lake George (aka Million Dollar) Beach, on Friday 8/19, due to coliform counts that exceeded New York State Department of Health (DOH) guidelines. They also closed all waters in the area known as Dog Beach which lies between West Brook and the Million Dollar Beach facility. The DEC continued to sample the waters and reopened Million Dollar Beach once coliform levels were once again below acceptable levels.
