Get ready for a really a one-of-a-kind experience as three completely different types of business join together to form a one-stop-shop for visitors and residents of the Lake George area.
The Adirondack Collective is collaborating with Work Architecture on a privately funded project to have a combination distillery, art gallery, and market constructed in Lake George that could open as soon as next year.
Adirondack Collective Partner John Missale is calling the new venture “a destination experience.”
“It’s not just a distillery or just a market or just a museum,” Missale told The Post Star. “These components all work together.”
The distillery is expecting an annual production of 50,000 liters, most of which will be bourbon whiskey. Vodka, gin, hard cider, and other specialty beverages will also be created. This will be the only distillery actually located in Lake George; the closest distilleries are Lake George Distilling in Fort Ann, and Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery in Queensbury.
The gallery or museum component will include a space for artists to work on the second floor. Works in the gallery will focus on Adirondack art, with a space for temporary rotating exhibits; the Adirondack Collective focuses on highlighting the Adirondacks through art and design, with a focus on merging business with the natural beauty of the region.
For the market, Hen and Chickens Market – named after the Lake George island – will be featuring locally grown products sourced from within 90 miles of Lake George. The market is known for their selection of local specialties, made-from-scratch baked goods, and handcrafted items.
The 5,000-square-foot, two-story building will be built between Bloody Pond Road and Route 9L.
There has been no opposition to the plans in terms of zoning laws from the village, and the site plan approval could come as soon as August.
