Local officials are saying that construction on the new Price Chopper supermarket, that will be constructed on the Lake George/Warrensburg town line, will begin in the near future. Last week officials said that they plan to break ground in the spring of this year and the new Price Chopper will be open for business in 2014.
The new Price Chopper will be located off of Northway Exit 23 near the Lake George town line. Developers representing Price Chopper have proposed the supermarket be 30,500-square-feet and an additional 15,000 square feet be used for retail space. Developers will install a pump station at the supermarket site and will contract with the town of Warrensburg for water and sewer service. Although the supermarket plaza will be in Lake George, it will also be serving Warrensburg.
When negotiations started it was suggested the town of Lake George should create a new sewer district specifically for the plaza and some other businesses along the Route 9 area. The new supermarket has agreed to extend the sidewalk from the current ending spot along Route 9, south to where the Price Chopper plaza will be located.
For Lake George and Bolton Landing shoppers the new location will be much convenient than a trip to Queensbury or Glens Falls to pick up groceries.
