Wooden Children's Toys with Bart Pisha
Historically many children, particularly in impoverished or rural areas, did not have access to commercially produced toys, either because they were not sold locally or because their families could not afford to purchase them. Nonetheless, these children often did have wonderful toys to play with because someone in their family or immediate social circle was able to make toys for them. Participants in this course will have the opportunity to create one or two (depending on the complexity) children's toys from wood and finish with a safe food-grade preservative. The instructor will provide several different templates to make animal or vehicle designs. Students can also bring their own ideas for designs.
NOTE: Students should wear clothing that is suitable for working with paints. Students are also welcomed to bring their own tools for their project.
