This paddling season a substantial portion of proceeds from Patty’s Watersports Boutique, a division of Boats by George, benefits a remarkable nonprofit. Here are the details, and what they’re expected to bring in.
Patty’s Watersports is donating half of their income from stand up paddleboard rentals for the 2019 season to Double H Ranch in Lake Luzerne. Double H Ranch operates a summer camp and additional programs for kids with serious illnesses. These funds will help them continue to enrich the lives of these children.
Patty’s Watersports expects to bring in between $10,000 and $15,000. In addition, they raffled off two stand up paddleboards at Double H Ranch’s Chef Dinner on May 10th, and at their annual Gala on June 22nd.
Owner George Pensel described in a statement attending a Double H Ranch event in March, and feeling moved by a young camper speaking: “There was one camper in particular who made a friend with the same diagnosis as himself. This dear friend he made passed away since their time in camp. His friend had a favorite place at camp, a barn. Now this individual volunteers what he can to try to renovate this barn in the name of his friend. This is just one example of why this program is so important, it truly becomes a pillar in these children’s lives.”
If you’ve been toying with the idea of renting a paddleboard to enjoy on this lake this summer, now you have even more reason to do so! Never been paddleboarding before? Patty’s Watersports offers lessons as well as rentals. They’re located at Boats by George’s Cleverdale location.
