Popular Lake George Summer Spot, The Loft Drive In, Being Sold

The Lake George community is saddened to hear that The Loft, a familiar Lake George landmark to locals and tourists alike, is planning to be sold after many happy years serving the area. The owner indicates it’s time for a change.

Owner Eugene Serelli appears adamant that selling The Loft is the right decision for him and his business.

Last month, Cumberland Farms presented a design to the Queensbury Planning Board that involved demolishing the building to allow the convenience store to replace it; it was not approved. However, they were only one of many hats in the ring.

Serelli told The Post Star several people have expressed an interest in purchasing the building and they’re going to sell either way: “We were selling the business, and we’re still going to sell it.”

Although The Loft has been profitable, 61-year-old Serelli is ready to step back from running his own business; Serelli has owned The Loft for 15 years, although the restaurant has been in business for about 47.

The Post Star hurrahed the pushback on Cumberland Farms taking the spot in a recent “Boos and Bravos,” citing potential traffic issues – The Loft is located at the corner of Route 9 and Route 149.

In the meantime, The Loft is still open.
