The Lake George area isn’t just a great place to visit for a summer or winter vacation, but it’s also fun for anyone interested in a sportcation. In recognition of Lake George becoming a hotspot for sporting events, the Lake George Chamber of Commerce & CVB was recently announced as the winner of a Readers’ Choice Award from Sports Events Media Group!
Over the past year, Sports Events Media Group accepted nominations from sports events planners and industry professionals across the U.S. to determine the country’s top sports event destinations and their host organizations. More than 5,000 votes came in, and the Lake George Chamber of Commerce & CVB was one of the 126 winners!
Compared to the rest of the winners in New York State, the Lake George Chamber of Commerce & CVB was one of only two CVBs/sports commissions selected, which really shows how committed the organization is to hosting sporting events in the Lake George area.
The Lake George Chamber of Commerce & CVB will be honored in the January 2017 issue of “SportsEvents,” the magazine of Sports Events Media Group.
In a Lake George Chamber of Commerce & CVB press release, “SportsEvents” Executive Editor John Rezell was quoted as saying, “It is clear, based on our readers’ experiences, that these award winners are willing to go above and beyond typical service levels to help sports event planners produce outstanding events that participants, their families and spectators will want to experience again and again.”
In both Lake George and the Glens Falls Region, there are a wide variety of natural and indoor sporting venues, making the area a prime destination for sporting events year-round. You can find everything from professional hockey at the Glens Falls Civic Center to marathons and tournaments happening near Lake George Village.
Youth sports and the number of sporting events are growing in the area each year, and there are even plans to bring a professional beach volleyball tournament to the shores of Lake George in 2017! The Lake George Chamber of Commerce & CVB hopes to continue to work with sports event planners and provide year-round entertainment and activities.
