The DEC announced late Thursday afternoon that Million Dollar Beach and Dog Beach in Lake George remain closed to the public for the time being while they continue their investigation. Below is their latest press release on what is happening, as well as some great alternative beaches for you to check out!

DEC Update on Lake George Beach Contamination:
“Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the protection of public health, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) staff have determined that Million Dollar Beach and Dog Beach will remain closed until all potential sources of bacterial contamination are fully assessed.
Sampling results that came back today showed decreased levels of coliform bacteria, but DEC is awaiting results from a more extensive sampling conducted along several points on the shoreline Thursday before swimming is deemed safe.
DEC is currently investigating a variety of potential sources of this contamination and will reopen Lake George Beach as soon as test results are once again below acceptable levels.”
