Last summer, it was announced that Freedom Boat Club – a company that provides its members with hassle-free access to a fleet of boats – was planning on opening a Lake George-based franchise in the near future. That plan is finally coming to fruition as the company has scheduled its new franchise’s launch date for May 2016!
The owners/operators of the Lake George Freedom Boat Club franchise are Saratoga Springs residents Matt and Rebecca O’Hara. The pair of boating enthusiasts jumped at the opportunity to run a Freedom Boat Club franchise when they saw the potential for success that the company’s model could have in Lake George.
“We are thrilled to now be able to offer access to the beautiful waters of Lake George to seasoned boaters and newcomers to the boating lifestyle alike,” said Matt O’Hara in a statement. “This proven boat-sharing model allows us to provide an exciting and affordable new opportunity for area boating enthusiasts, while minimizing the impact on lake traffic. It’s a win-win all around.”
The boat club will be located at Beckley’s Marina in Diamond Point and will offer a fleet of new, name brand boats while covering the costs of cleaning, storage, maintenance, insurance, and other services. Members must complete a training course, but are then granted access to the club’s online reservation system allowing them to use the boat of their choice whenever they’d like.
