In April 2014, an electrical fire blazed through the kitchen at George’s Restaurant, a beloved eatery on Route 9L in Lake George. The significant damage required the restaurant to close for the entire 2014 season, but just over one year later the George’s crew is ecstatic to be re-opening tonight!!

George’s will be open tonight – Friday, May 29 – from 4:30pm until 9pm, and will have those same hours seven days a week through Labor Day. The Early Bird Special menu will be back and offered from 4:30pm until 6pm.
In a press release provided by the restaurant, operating partner Ted Bearor is quoted as saying, “Customers will definitely see some changes to the restaurant. We’ve modernized and expanded the kitchen and have relocated and enhanced the salad bar, which has long been a customer favorite. We have added two house-made soups and wanted it to be more of a feature than ever before. But we’re still George’s, from the chandeliers and mirrors to the menu. We have been and will always be a uniquely Adirondack restaurant experience.”

Past customers may remember the three-category menu, featuring selections “From the Butcher’s Block,” “From the Sea,” and “From the Farm and Garden,” and George’s is happy to report that the menu will still be oriented that way. Additionally, George’s also has an extensive array of appetizers, desserts, and a well-rounded beverage list.
Although the 2014 season may have been lost, George’s Restaurant is back and better than ever. Stop by the restaurant at 3857 NY-9L in Lake George and celebrate the return of one of the Village’s mainstays!
