One of the best ways to see fall foliage is to drive along a scenic route, and the Lake George NY region has scenic drives that will take your breath away!
Wondering where to find them? With the help of our Lake George Facebook fans, we at LakeGeorge.com have put together a list of the TOP 5 scenic routes to enjoy the fall foliage this season.
Top 10 Scenic Routes This Fall:
Route 9N
This scenic route winds around the entire lake, offering views of the lake along the east side, views of the mountains, mansions and cabins along the way, as well as the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Prospect Mountain
In addition to hiking Prospect Mountain, you can also drive to the top of Prospect Mountain (for a small fee per vehicle) and enjoy one of the most spectacular views overlooking Lake George, surrounding mountains and foliage. The view is incredibly rewarding from your car, or you can take a van to the summit! The drive is seasonal, running through late October. See Prospect Mountain VIDEO!
Bolton Landing
Take a leisurely drive through Bolton Landing to admire the historic mansions, estates and shops that make the town so charming. Lake George glimmering in the background reminds you that you are enjoying the scenic views of the Queen of American Lakes!
Top Of The World
With a name like that, it must be a great view, right? A drive up Top Of The World Golf Resort atop French Mountain (near Prospect Mountain) delivers on being one of the best views of the lake as well as surrounding mountains and foliage, where you can just take everything in.
Skip The Drive
Forget the scenic drive, and go for a scenic ride by water or land! How about a scenic cruise aboard one of Lake George's steamboats or other guided tours? You could also opt for the Upper Hudson River Railroad for a leisurely ride along the Hudson River and back to see the Lake George countryside. It's just a short ride to the train station in North Creek, and the roundtrip ride takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
