Lake George offers both indoor and outdoor ice skating! Outdoor: Packed your skates? Great! The frozen surface of Lake George beckons, where you can glide along the ice and enjoy the brisk winter weather amid the beauty of the Adirondack foothills. Ice in and Ice out dates vary depending on weather, as does the safety and thickness of the ice. Before heading out, read these excellent winter safety tips developed by the Lake George Association.
Indoor: For those who enjoy the comfort of indoor skating, the Lake George Forum in the center of Lake George Village offers a public skating rink that is typically open from late October through early March (and even in July and August!). Public skating is available on weekdays from 10am - 2pm (Open until 4:30pm for the vacation week after Christmas). Both hockey and figure skate rentals are also available, making this a great family outing. And, for those expert skaters, there's even an open freestyle ice time for the advanced figure skater! For more information about the Forum and skating availability call (518) 668-2200. The Glens Falls Civic Center also offers skating open to the public and is just a short drive from Lake George. The rink is open seasonally from September 15 to June 15. Public skating times are Tuesdays 12:30 to 2:30pm. The Civic Center offers figure skating and ice skating lessons to people of all ages. For more information on improving your skating skills or just to see when you can come and skate for fun, call (518) 798-0366.
