Weekends in February Are Winter Carnival Time!

Lake George Village offers a month long celebration of winter at this annual family-friendly event at Shepard Park! The Winter Carnival officially begins with the New Year's Day Polar Plunge Swim and First Day in Lake George. The Winter Carnival then picks up again each weekend throughout February, so mark your calendar and take part in the fun!Outhouse Races

Join the Polar Plunge if you dare! Take the Polar Plunge into the chilly waters of Lake George - or just watch on the sidelines! It is not just New Year's day the chilly waters are dove into - but every day during Winter Carnival weekends! Get to the beach by 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday of every weekend for this entertaining site!

Relish the warmth of tasty samples during the chowder, chili, BBQ and chicken wing cook-offs. Enjoy the always fun and always hilarious outhouce races - a crowd pleasing favorite! Kids can play on the giant ice slide, participate in children's activities, enjoy a tethered hot air balloon ride or snowmobile sleigh ride and visit a historical reenactors' encampment of the 1700s.   • Sunkiss Ballooning Hot Air Balloon Tether Rides (fee) :: 8:30-9:30 AM on lake
  • Hot Air Balloon Walk About @ King Neptunes Parking lot
  • Children’s Activities @ King Neptunes Restaurant :: 11:00-2:00
  • Snowmobile Water Skip :: 2:30
  • Games $1 fee (PRIZES) :: 12:00-2:00
  • Polar Plunge :: 3:00
  • Snowmobile Rides (fee) ::12:00-2:00
  • Wood Carving Demo :: 12:00-2:00 (on the beach)
  • Dog Sled Rides (fee) :: All day on the lake
  • Children's Petting Zoo :: Saturdays 12:00-2:00

February 6 & 7

  • Opening Ceremonies :: Sat. 12:00pm at Shepard Park Beach
  • Radio Disney LIVE show :: Saturday 12:30-2:30
  • Outhouse Races :: Sat. at 12:30pm on the ice (Register at Duffy's Tavern @ 10am)
  • Encampment of the 1700's :: Sat. & Sun. all day at Shepard Park Beach
  • Chicken Wing Cook-off :: Sat. 12:00-2:00pm at Shepard Park Beach

February 13 & 14

  • AMA Sanctioned Motorcycle & ATV Ice Races :: Register at Duffy's Tavern at 9:00am; races begin at 11:00am
  • Chowder Cook-off :: Sat. at 12-2 p.m. in Shepard Park
  • Bonfire at the Beach :: Sat. at 5:00pm on Shepards Beach
  • Fireworks by Alonzo :: Sat. at 6:30pm over the ice
  • Mardi Gras Parade :: Sun. at 5:00pm on Canada Street
  • Encampment of the 1700's :: Sat. & Sun. all day!

February 20 & 21

  • ATV/ Snowmobile Poker Run :: Sat. registration is at Longshots from 8:00-11:00am
  • Local Tavern Competition :: Sun. at 1pm; Staff and customers are encouraged to participate, hosted by Mario's Restaurant
  • Kite Flying on the Lake ::American Kitefliers Association: Saturday at 10:00am
  • Flag Football :: Sat. 10:00am
  • Ice Diving Demonstrations :: Sponsored by Rich Morin Scuba Center: Sat. & Sun. all day!
  • BBQ Cook-off :: Sat. 12:00-2:00pm
  • Skydiving Competition :: Saratoga Skydiving: Sat. & Sun. all day!
  • Dog Pulls at the Beach Road Parking Lot :: Sat. & Sun. all day!
  • Hot Air Balloon Fly Off :: Sat. & Sun 8:30 am from the lake (weather permitting)
  • Hot Air Balloon Moon Glow :: Sat. at Dusk on the lake (weather permitting)

February 27 & 28

  • Car Races :: Sat. & Sun. all day!
  • Ice Diving Demonstrations :: Sponsored by Rich Morin Scuba Center: Sat. & Sun. all day!
  • Chili Cook-off :: Sat. 12:00-2:00pm at the Beach
  • Skydiving Competition :: Saratoga Skydiving: Sat. & Sun. all day!
  • New England Sled Dog Club Sanctioned Dog Sled Races
  • Snowmobile Raffle Drawing :: Sun. 3:30pm at Shepards Park Beach

Please note:

  • Out of state ATV riders must purchase a TrailPass to ride in New York State. NYS is reciprocal with out of state ATV registrations, so you can ride here if your off-road vehicle is registered elsewhere.
  • Out of state Snowmobilers do not need a NY TrailPass. However, the snowmobile must be registered in New York State, and the rider must carry insurance.
