These fairs are within 45 minutes of Lake George!
The Saratoga County Fair is celebrating its 176th year and the classic carnival fun is bigger and better than ever. Don't miss tons of live music, a rodeo, a demolition derby, domestic and exotic animals, food vendors, and more. General admission tickets are $12, or $40 for all week.
The Warren County Youth Fair has free admission and features youth exhibits, a youth talent show, crafts and more. While this fair does not have rides it does have plenty of fun for the whole family!
The Washington County Fair features over 1,800 exhibitors, more than 1,900 animals, over 30 free daily shows, and more than 40 carnival rides. The fair will also be populated with artisans, craftsmen, historians, and food vendors. Parking is free. Admission is $12 for adults, free for kids age 13 and under.
Worth the Drive
These fairs are around or a little over an hour away from Lake George!
Participate in hands-on activities at the Schaghticoke Fair, the third oldest fair in the state. Enjoy a Ferris Wheel, Merry Go-Round, live music and more! The first day is "$1 Day" where admission is just one dollar; the rest of the week it's $11. The Schaghticoke Fairgrounds are about an hour from Lake George.
Take a drive across the state border for fun, food, and entertainment at the Vermont State Fair in Rutland. Check out the demo derby, truck pulls, petting zoo, live music performances, and interactive Butterfly Encounter. Tickets are $10, $5 for kids ages 6-11. Rutland is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Lake George.
The Fonda Fair is back for 2017 in Fonda, and features a talent contest, demolition derby, animal shows, a rodeo, and other fun activities. General admission tickets are $10, or $2 for kids ages 6 - 11. The Fonda Fairgrounds are an 1 hour and 30 minute drive from Lake George.
The Altamont Fair has music, concessions, vendors every day - all you could want in a fair. Highlights include the Circus Hollywood, Hollywood Racing Pigs, and a high wire aerial thrill show. Tickets are $15 Tuesday and Wednesday, and then $17 Thursday through Sunday. Children under 36" tall are free. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Lake George.
You can find live country music, a demolition derby, tractor pulls, a rodeo and more at the Columbia County Fair. Tickets are $10, except they are $15 on Sunday. Don't miss "Youth Day" on Thursday when individuals 18 and younger get in free. The fair is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Lake George.
The Essex County Fair is about an hour from Lake George. Catch tractor pulls, mud bogs, and trailer races or head over to the midway for rides. Kids' Day is August 16th. Admission is $10 and includes entry, rides, most shows and parking for the day. Children under 3 years old are free.
Take a Day Trip
These fairs are a little farther away, but you can join in the fun if you're up for a day trip or happen to be in the area!
Enjoy the family-friendly fun at the Schoharie County Fair with a parade, fireworks, live music, a demo derby, tractor pulls, and more! Daily tickets are $15, eight-day passes are $55. The fairgrounds in Cobleskill are about 1 hour and 45 minutes away from Lake George.
Head to Plattsburgh for the Clinton County Fair to enjoy the food, games, livestock, live music, rides, and more! Special events include the Ultimate Parkour Experience, a High Flying Thrill Show, and a hypnotist performance. Mega Pass tickets are $20, or $30 for season pass tickets. The fairgrounds are about 2 hours from Lake George.
If You Are Feeling Really Energetic...
The New York State involves a longer round-trip, but the fun you'll have will be worth the distance!
Find food, music, games, exhibits, agriculture and more over the 12 days and nights of the New York State Fair in Syracuse. Tickets are $12, kids 12 and under are free. Syracuse is approximately 3 hours from Lake George.
