"Experience the Art and Culture of the lower Adirondack region"

The Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC) was founded in 1972 by a coalition of arts minded residents.  It's mission is to enrich the quality of life in Warren, Washington and Northern Saratoga Counties by supporting arts and culture through promoting, developing, sponsoring, networking, coordinating, and providing arts activities and services.

LARAC's administrative offices, as well as Lapham Gallery, are located in a renovated carriage house in historic Downtown Glens Falls, New York.  The building is directly across the street from beautiful Downtown City Park, the center of activity in the City. The Gallery interior is almost 1900 square feet of stunning gallery space with just the right amount of architectural detail, painted white. First time visitors to Lapham Gallery are always in awe of it's sheer beauty and size.  Our Gallery hosts up to 6 exhibits annually of national, regional and local artists.

Twice a year, LARAC holds juried Fine Art Festivals; our June Art Festival is the largest outdoor downtown event annually for the last 40 years, and takes place the second full weekend of June, right in Downtown City Park.  This show features 200+ local, regional and national artists, children's activities, food concessions, and live musical acts on the bandstand throughout the weekend.  Our Fall Art Festival is held the first weekend of November.  This is an indoor, pre-holiday gift buying show that has almost a 30 year following, with 75-100 artists exhibiting.

LARAC also works directly with New York State Council on the Arts, offering grant money through the Decentralization program to local artists in Warren and Washington Counties using an annual application process.  Grants are given to artists who meet the criteria of fulfilling a community arts project, which can be visually artistic, musical, theatrical, or any combination of these.

Additionally, our building also features a Gift Shop offering unique, one-of-a-kind items by local artists, as well as workshops and programs for art enthusiasts throughout the year.

Gallery Hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 3 pm, at 7 Lapham Place, Glens Falls, NY.  Stop in and see us, call 518-798-1144, or log onto www.larac.org
