In a heartfelt Facebook post last week, Chef Dan DeCesare of Sammy D’s Café announced the eatery had closed. The café opened in the Adirondack Outlet Mall eight years ago and was hugely popular in the region.
“I will miss providing amazing service, creative food, and knowledge of nature’s arts there in the mall hallway,” DeCesare said in the post.
He shared with The Post Star that this was a mutual decision between the business and the mall. The decision did not come easy, but with two young children, it had become difficult to balance family and work.
The café gained popularity through its unique offerings and gluten-free menu. They made everything from bread to roasted meats in-house, ensuring each ingredient was fresh. This year, the café earned a spot on Yelp’s “100 Best Places to Eat in 2017”.
On Facebook, fans of Sammy D’s continue to offer their kind words. Many shared that the café was an integral stop on their travel routes or while visiting Lake George. While DeCesare has no plans of reopening at this time, loyal fans are eager for the family’s next venture.
