Plunging into icy waters is an age-old tradition here in Lake George. On Saturday, November 14, 2015, that tradition continues at Shepard Park Beach with the Special Olympics Lake George Polar Plunge
Last year nearly 600 participants braved the icy waters while hundreds of spectators looked on with excitement. These daring participants help by showing their support for the Special Olympics and raising money for the organization.
Many form teams and have fun with it. The goal is to get friends, family, colleagues and other donors to sponsor your plunge, ultimately raising thousands of dollars to help the Special Olympics reach their fundraising goal, which this year is the $1 million mark.
And a few...incentives, for those hesitant to dip their toes in the water. If a participant raises $100 to take the Plunge they'll receive an official Polar Plunge sweatshirt - and more incentives for higher fund-raising levels!
