Providing Library services and programs to the Glens Falls region.

The Mission of Crandall Public Library is to provide resources, services and programs necessary to meet the informational, educational, cultural and entertainment needs of the public to enhance individual and community life. Crandall Public Library intends to provide the community with free access to the world of ideas, information in varied formats and the creative experience in an open and nonjudgmental environment.

The Library District is comprised of the City of Glens Falls, the Town of Moreau, and the Town of Queensbury.  The library has operated continuously since 1893. In 1965, over thirty years ago, the library's charter changed to include the towns of Queensbury and Moreau. In 1958, Crandall Public Library became the Central Reference Library of the Southern Adirondack Library System. New York State provides special funding for Crandall Public Library to serve the residents of Warren, Washington, Saratoga and Hamilton counties.

In 1992, the voters of the three municipalities approved the Crandall Public Library District and its first budget. The District is one of the strongest regional examples of intergovernmental cooperation. Furthermore, in 2005 District Voters supported a $12.875 million bond towards an $18.8 million library renovation and expansion project. The difference of $6 million between the bond and projected costs was raised through the “Continue the Legend Capital Campaign” culminating in 2008.

Customer service is a major goal of the Crandall Public Library staff and trustees. We hope you have a very positive experience using the diverse collections, services and programs that the library offers. Let us know your concerns and suggestions so we can improve our response to your needs. The library trustees and staff are proud of the overall program of Crandall Public Library. Your support of the library contributes to the future growth of the library.
