As you drive south through Lake George Village, just before you reach the Fort William Henry Resort, you’ll find the area’s newest restaurant, Gaslight of Lake George, nestled between DJ’s Nite Club and Howard Johnson by Wyndham Lake George. We recently tried this exciting new eatery and quickly added it to our list of favorite spots.
The atmosphere has a great vibe; it’s stylish yet casual and relaxed. There is an outdoor patio with large umbrellas and a covered outdoor bar for enjoying a specialty cocktail, glass of wine, bourbon or craft beer while people-watching during busy summer nights in the Village. The patio also features a large TV so you don’t have to miss any big games.
One of the highlights of Gaslight’s menu is its wood fired pizza. From the classic margherita to specialty options like bechamel chicken, pesto shrimp, and prosciutto & arugula, Gaslight’s interpretation of this standard fare will make your mouth water. The restaurant even offers optional cauliflower crust for gluten-free or paleo diets!
In addition to the pizza, the menu features a unique assortment of appetizers, salads, and entrees, including tartine, croque madame, wild mushroom risotto, pan seared scallops, house-made pasta, and a classic rack of lamb.
We started with a delicious duck liver pate, which was served with crostini, cornichons, and red onions. We then had the wild mushroom risotto – which was listed as an appetizer, but was actually a meal on its own – followed by the scallops and the rack of lamb. Everything we tried was delectable and we would enthusiastically recommend each dish.
We concluded our dinner with a heavenly crème brûlée. What a perfect evening!
Although it is still in its early days, we hope other diners will see Gaslight as the treasure that we do. Fingers crossed that it will stay open year-round so that visitors and locals alike can continuously enjoy the food and the atmosphere!
