Lake George has gone to the dogs – in the best way possible! Plans for the construction of a dog park in part of the Lake George Recreation Park are moving forward, with hopes to open the fenced-in park sometime in July.
Running with the Big Dogs
Lake George will soon join the ranks of northeastern communities that boast a dog park within their midst. In May, village trustees moved forward with the decision to construct a fenced-in dog park off of Transfer Road. The plans call for the dog park to be located south of the soccer field on a southeastern plot of the Lake George Recreation Park.
Man’s best friends will soon have their own space in which to run and play off-leash. It is proposed that the park will be split into two areas: one for larger dogs and another for smaller dogs. Additionally, the village hopes to include a lean-to for owners to gather in, agility course set pieces for the dogs to exercise with, and dog waste bag dispensers to keep the park clean.
The park could open as soon as July, so keep your eyes peeled and your dog by your side because you won’t want to miss all this canine-friendly fun during the dog days of this summer!
