New Hours of Operation
In an effort to make Million Dollar Beach, also known as Lake George Beach, even more enjoyable for everyone, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has decided to extend the beach’s hours of operation.
From May 27 through Labor Day, visitors will be able to access the beach from 8:00am-8:00pm daily to relax, picnic, and hang out on the sand. The Lake George Beach House and its changing facilities, showers, and bathrooms will be available.
From May 27 through June 11, swimming will be permitted on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am-6:00pm. From June 16 through Labor Day, swimming will be permitted daily from 9:00am-7:00pm. Swimming is not permitted unless a lifeguard is on duty.
Use of the beach is still free, and parking will be $10 per vehicle during hours of operation.
Increased Access & Further Upgrades
The DEC is constructing a new gate on the western end of Million Dollar Beach, allowing pedestrians to enter via Beach Road. This gate is expected to be completed before the end of June 2017.
Throughout this summer, some of the improvements you can look forward to include new signage and more lighting from the western end of the beach to the state boat launch.
Overall, the upgrades at Million Dollar Beach are expected to cost around $33,000 and help ensure visitors have the best experience possible.
