Thank those who have served our country by attending one of the many commemorative events happening this Veterans Day Weekend! There are also a trio of other happenings to fill out your weekend plans.

Veterans Day Ceremonies & Events

Field of Flags at Fort William Henry

Monday, November 7 – Monday, November 14

As part of Fort William Henry’s Veterans Appreciation Week, a field of flags – each with a name of a veteran – will grace the west lawn. On November 11 at 11:00am, a musket salute and wreath laying ceremony will take place.

Veterans Memorial Service in Hague

Friday, November 11

There will be a Veterans Memorial Service at 11:00am on Friday at Veterans Park in Hague.

Veterans Day Ceremony in Warrensburg

Friday, November 11

The Warrensburg American Legion Post 446 will host a Veterans Day Ceremony in Warrensburg’s Frederick H. Flynn Veterans Park on Friday.

Veterans Day Dinner in Lake Luzerne

Friday, November 11

The William J. Varney American Legion Post 862 will host a Veterans Day Dinner on Friday. The event is free for all veterans.

Military Appreciation Weekend at Adirondack Winery

Friday, November 11 – Sunday, November 13

In honor of Veterans Day, Adirondack Winery invites all active military personnel and veterans to come to the Tasting Room this weekend for a free wine tasting session and spiced wine cocktail. Plus, enjoy special discounts on wine purchases!

Salute To Veterans by Lake George Community Band

Sunday, November 13

Lake George Community Band presents A Salute To Veterans concert featuring patriotic music selections and pieces from various conflict eras on Sunday afternoon at Glens Falls High School.

Other Notable Happenings

Free Fishing Day

Friday, November 11

Friday is one of New York State’s Free Fishing Days! Anyone can fish the fresh or marine waters of New York State and now fishing license or recreational marine fishing registry is required. All other fishing regulations still apply.

Strides Against Sarcoma

Saturday, November 12

The 2nd Annual Strides Against Sarcoma Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday morning at Queensbury’s Rush Pond Trail System. The race is held in honor of 25-year-old Caroline Savitz who lost her two-year battle with Sarcoma this past September. Proceeds benefit Glens Falls Hospital’s C.R. Wood Cancer Center and the Sarcoma Foundation of America.

Flannels & Handles Hoedown

Saturday, November 12

West Mountain is hosting the first “Flannels & Handles Hoedown” on Saturday evening to benefit the West Mountain School! Highlights include live music, line dancing demonstrations, silent auction items, a buffet dinner, and more.
