Specialty Boat Shop Tumblehome Boatshop Opens in Warrensburg

It’s no secret that the Lake George area is a haven for boat lovers. With the enthusiasm of the locals and the sparkling water of the lake itself, Lake George has long attracted serious boaters to the region. Now, with the opening of Tumblehome Boatshop in Lake George, boaters have another reason to come to the area: restoration of classic boats.

Owner Reuben Smith opened Tumblehome Boatshop officially on Saturday. Located at 684 Rt. 28 in Warrensburg, the shop focuses on high-end restoration and new construction of historic and classic wooden boats.

Just a short-drive from the village, the knowledge that Smith has to offer will be worth the trip. Smith has been working on wooden boats since 1981, and has taught boatbuilding classes and workshops for over a decade at places like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Antique and Classic Boat Society. His dedication to the craft of restoring boats was further seen when he founded the Mass Bay Maritime Artisans.

At Tumblehome, custom boats can be constructed but the company’s true passion lies in restoration of classic boats. But whether you are imagining cruising around the lake in a wooden boat and want to make that a reality, or if you have a boat that needs a little love, Tumblehome Boatshop promises to be the spot to go to.

Are you eager to see more classic boats on Lake George? If you could create a custom boat what would it be like? Tell us about it in the comments!
