Many of our readers are wondering about the 2012 Winter Carnival, and where some of the events will be held with the current ice conditions on Lake George. There has been some rescheduling, and some reorganizing to make sure that you can enjoy most of the events that you look forward to every winter.
The schedule will be updated on a weekly basis to reflect any changes in weather and ice conditions. Want to find out what is going on, and where? Read on..
This weekend marks the beginning of the month long celebration of winter activities in the Village of Lake George. Most of the events this weekend are scheduled at Shepards Park, and will remain there. This includes the Opening Ceremonies, Chili Cook Off, and the Bonfire. Events that will take place every weekend in February at Shepards Park include the Polar Plunge, Petting Zoo, Wagon Rides and Wood Carvings.
The popular Outhouse Races will be held in the parking lot on Beach Road, and Mayor Blaise assures us that there will be snow, whether they have to bring it there or not. It is rumored that Tubby Tubes may bring their snow guns down to blast the parking lot with artificial snow.
A severe lack of safe ice on the lake has carnival organizers spreading the celebration out all over the village. Weekly events that will be taking place at Gaslight Village (on West Brook Rd.) include Monster Truck, Hot Air Balloon, and Helicopter Rides.
Remember to check back weekly to see if there are any changes or updates!
Will you still attend the Winter Carnival, even if it feels a bit more like a Spring Carnival? (Those polar plungers have it easy this year!)
