Spring fishing has been excellent. Trout fishing was very good and the bass fishing taking place now is spectactular. The Lake George waters are warming up and the thermoclime is setting up. When this happens trout will start migrating to their deepwater hangouts. This first push of fish into these deeper waters is one of my favorite times to fish.
The fish tend to move in big schools and the larger fish seem to be the first to arrive. This means big fish and lots of them. Mid to late June is a magical time to be on the water. With little boat traffic, nice weather and lots of big fish, you can see why it’s my favorite fishing month. If you have been considering a Lake George fishing charter for trout and salmon, do yourself a favor and book one for this month. You won’t be disappointed.
As we head into July, the bass will also start to move out of the shallows and school up on the rock piles and humps throughout the lake . An evening bass charter can produce lots of action and is a great way to introduce a child to fishing. No matter what type of fishing you’d like to experience you’ll find it’s all good on the Queen of America’s lakes, Lake George. Enjoy a few pictures from the Highliner Charter boats’ recent trips. Hope to see you on the water.
